Environmental Site Remediation
White Shield has supported major remedial actions throughout the Pacific Northwest, assisting in the restoration of numerous contaminated sites to a condition that is no longer a threat to human health or other lifeforms.
The significant uncertainty inherent in environmental cleanups requires a flexible, iterative approach. Remediation is generally subject to an array of regulatory requirements, the most comprehensive set of which is from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and also can be based on assessments of human health and ecological risks where no standards exist or are only advisory. White Shield has supported numerous projects involving significant regulatory compliance under EPA, CERCLA, RCRA, and MTCA.
Our experience includes projects involving remediation technologies that can be categorized into both ex-situ and in-situ methods, including excavation, solidification and stabilization, pump and treat, in-situ oxidation, and other technologies. Clients include the US EPA Region 10, USACE, WA State Department of Ecology, and WA State Fish & Wildlife.
